A Qualitative Study on Leisure Benefits, Constraints, and Negotiations in Urban Parks Based on Perception of Chinese Older Adults

Urban parks, one of the most significant outdoor leisure areas, are particularly important for physical and mental health older adults. In order to investigate benefits constraints activities that adults perceived in urban as well their negotiation mechanisms, this study was conducted using a qualitative method, interviewing 102 retired aged 55 or Guangzhou, China, Rost CM 6.0 word frequency analysis. The findings indicated due lack age-friendly public facilities Chinese expressed multiple expectations regarding mainly terms physical, psychological, social interaction, with being primary drivers. Leisure can be intrapersonal, interpersonal, structural. Older who visited parks those did not were affected by different levels limitations, oldest people experiencing pronounced constraints. able access opportunities through variety constraint strategies, including cognitive adaptability, spatiotemporal adaptation, interpersonal coordination, skill acquisition, alternative activities. results might assist related management departments building more based on framework park recreation adults, such institutional design planning enhance role healthy aging.
